From Monday 4 to Sunday 10 June, Exeter churches are sharing in Joyfest, a time to bring happiness to the city as we express the kindness inspired by Jesus. You can find out more about Joyfest here. Christians from across the city and from all kinds of churches will simply be showing acts of kindness to those around us as we seek to make our city a more joyful place. Our inspiration comes from Jesus who came into the world and still comes into our lives to bring to us the joy of knowing we are loved and valued by God.
South Street Baptist Church will be marking Joyfest by seeking to be a blessing to the Palace Gate Centre and on Saturday 9 June to our street. During the week, we will be offering cakes and other treats to our groups and at our Dove Cafe on the morning of Tues 5 June. On some of the evenings, we’ll be offering similar treats to our evening groups.
“We want to use Joyfest to share with Centre users and South Street, the joy that comes from the love and goodness of God,” Simon Taylor, Centre Chaplain and South St Baptist minister.
We’re hoping to have a little concert to entertain those who come to Dove Cafe on Tuesday 5 June – more details to follow.
On Saturday 9 June, South Street Baptist Church will be open during the morning from around 10.30 am to offer free drinks and cake. Our resident, bread-baking chaplain Simon will have baked some little pot-shaped loaves to give away and might even show how he made them. The church will be available for quiet reflection and we’ll have a craft activity for you to do. Pop in to see us!
